JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for all areas relating to financial management and reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager will supervise three accounting staff members responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform, manage and supervise daily operation of all facets of the corporate finance department to include: accounts payable, accounts receivable, business office management, cash receipts, general ledger, auditing and budgeting.  (Note: position requires day-to-day hands-on performance of standard and routine tasks within each of these functional areas)
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and GAAP
  • Prepare bank reconciliation, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, year-end closing entries and audit schedules
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close and audits
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare budgets and undertake forecasting activities to creating annual budget documents and monitoring of revenue and expenditure transactions
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Interface with key personnel at all properties to verify transaction report data and resolve issues
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Provide support and assistance to the VP of Finance in the departmental administrative functions
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to ensure the department runs smoothly at all times

EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required; CPA preferred
  • At least 10 years of hands on corporate accounting/finance experience; multi-site or multi-state corporate accounting/finance experience a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within the accounting/ financial reporting area

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Solid knowledge of general accepted accounting principles, Federal and State laws and regulations a must
  • Strong ability to analyze accounting systems and procedures, performs difficult and complex statistical analyses and organize and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, reports and analyses in a timely manner
  • Skilled at developing financial policies/procedures and establishing and maintaining fiscal procedures and records
  • Excellent computer skills to include accounting software experience, advanced Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and follow up skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
  • The ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization
  • A customer service attitude with the ability to train and mentor others within the organization
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary to ensure the finance department runs smoothly; assisting in areas outside your scope of responsibility when necessary
